Health and Safety Committee

The primary role of the Health and Safety Committee is to provide information and education to members regarding current health and safety issues. The Committee will also work to ensure the Employer is providing a safe work environment and complying with all legal mandates.

Committee Structure:

The current Chair of the H&S committee is Danielle LaPorta, Safety & Insurance Coordinator. The Chairperson is the coordinator of all Health and Safety activities for the Local. Contact telephone number is (856) 218-4168.

The size and function of the committee varies with the Employer and is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the specific Employer.

Employer Specific H&S Committees:

Gloucester County Rank and File and Supervisory Units: There is to be a five member committee that will meet jointly with the Employer on a quarterly basis or as may be mutually agreeable. The joint H&S committee is to review occupational safety and health concerns affecting the employees and to discuss possible remedies for such problems.

Gloucester County Division of Social Services Unit: There is to be one member selected by the Union and will be included in the Gloucester County joint H&S committee. The joint H&S committee is to review occupational safety and health concerns affecting the employees and to discuss possible remedies for such problems.

Salem County Units: The Health & Safety Committee will be comprised of up to three members appointed by the Union, as well as other personnel with expertise from various County departments. The Committee will meet at the discretion of its members and will forward any advisory reports in writing to the County Administrator/Deputy County Administrator.
